Postcard Friendship Friday - A Merry Christmas Furry Greeting

There is damage to the corners and the postcard card is bent in the middle. This card will be 100 in two years. It amazes me sometimes the age of these postcards. Have you ever wondered what the lives were like of those whose hands these old cards were intended? I know that in 1913 a trip to Shelton from Olympia would have been a very long trip one way in a car on rugged dirt roads.

On December 28th E.L.S. mailed this card from Olympia, WA to Mr Charles H of Shelton, WA. The message: Merry Christmas to Charley and all From, E.l.S. PS. These cards are all I have to send.

I love the image of the dog and cat greeting each other. Do you see the tiny kitten off to the side? I wonder if E.L.S was embarrassed to send these furry friends?

What a shame he was embarassed to send it. It's such a seet little card about friendship and peace. Happy PFF!

Perhaps he was just being honest about his circumstances, and wanted Charley to know that at least his heart was in the right place. The message side is almost as important as the view side, isn't it?

That's a sweet card. I especially like Christmas postcards with cats.

So he was either embarrassed by the subject matter (assuming it was a man), or perhaps he couldn't afford a present. Either way, I think it's a lovely card.
