Carol Duvall an Inspiration to many!

Do you remember the days when Carol Duvall was on HGTV...  I would love to watch all of her shows I could.  Working full time made it difficult for me.   I couldn't wait until I had a weekday off and watch he show!

Well here is a chance to see a recent interview with her.  When Creativity Knocks was able to spend a little time with Carol  CLICK HERE  and see how great she looks.

Bio from DIY:
As the Queen of Crafts, Carol Duvall has delivered her crafting know-how to the small screen for decades. She spent 18 years working as everything from news anchor to co-producer, and finally, as host of her first crafting program at a Detroit television station. By the late 1980s, she regularly appeared on ABC’s Home Show, and in 1994, became host of HGTV’s The Carol Duvall Show.
You can still watch many of her DIY shows HERE!

Postcard Friendship Friday ~ Easter 2

I love my Easter postcards and will be sharing some of them over the next couple of week...
Interesting info on the publisher of this card:

International Art Publishing Co. Ltd.   (1898-1914) New York, NY

A publisher of many artist signed holiday and patriotic postcards. Published over 3000 holiday cards by Ellen H. Clapsaddle alone. They also owned the Wolf Company that also produced postcards. All their cards were printed in Germany.

The United States Postal Service began issuing pre-stamped postal cards in 1873. The postal cards came about because the public was looking for an easier way to send quick notes. The USPS was the only establishment allowed to print postcards, and it held its monopoly until May 19, 1898, when Congress passed the Private Mailing Card Act which allowed private publishers and printers to produce postcards. The public could mail the private mailing cards for 1¢ instead of the letter rate of 2¢. The term "private mailing card" came into use because the USPS wanted to keep the postcards it produced distinguishable from those being produced privately, so it was required that private publishers print "Private Mailing Card" on the backs of their cards. Postcards went through many phases when particular design features were popular, so even if a postcard is not dated or was never mailed, it is still possible to determine an approximate time when it was printed.

THANKS EVERYONE FOR HOPPING ALONG!

Glad to see you on ANOTHER AMAZING Operation Write Home Bloghop, there are over 80 stops on the hop as of this writing!  Lots to see...  If you've arrived here from Lora's Stamps, welcome... if not, you might want to start at  Operation Write Home to see all the great blogs!

On a light blue card I stamped a background image with VersaMark and embossed with opaque embossing powder. I copied one of my vintage postcards.  Using my Xyron I attached Dresden Trim around the edge of the picture, then attached the image to the card.  Final embellishment is a piece of ribbon knotted and attached with a glue dot!  HAPPY EASTER!

It doesn’t seem like much sending a card for someone to write home... then you haven’t read the OWH website.  THEY LOVE OUR CARDS in Iraq and Afghanistan!  More are being requested all the time. April 1 is the deadline to mail Mother's Day cards to OWH.

Did I hear Blog Candy... OF course you did, I love giving things away...  leave a comment on this post for a chance to win the paper pack below.  I will have a random draw on Saturday, March, 27th.  That should give everyone plenty of time to get through the hop!  If you are NOT a blogger, please provide your email address like this: name at server dot com and then I can contact you if you win!

Be sure to leave your comment and then hop on over to Dreaming on Creating blog! I've been checking out her blog and love her digital cards. Click here to keep hopping to Dreaming on Creating!

Art Party... my Marie Antoinette dress!

A few of my wonderful artistic friends and I get together as often as we can.  This afternoon we had a wonderful day playing with paper.  We were going to do paper dolls, but it turned out that we just made paper dresses.

If you know me I am always one to get side tracked.  We were provided with a template to use if we liked.  I was the only one to take another path.  I have been wanting to play with Marie Antoinette dresses. So I took a paper doll stamp I have and designed my dress around the stamp.  This is my first of many Marie Antoinette dresses, I hope.
The outer skirt of the dress is mulberry paper.
Bird stamp is Cavallini.
I also used lace, paper, Dresden Foil, crepe paper and a doily
Pink - Crystal Stickers Pearls.
The white pearls are attached to the lace.

I am sharing this with Dress of the Month
over at Alice and Camilla.
I also hope to get a more traditional dress done for the month of March
