I participated in the AMAZING All Things Altered Blog Hop this past weekend!!!! I got an AWESOME message from Gloria Stengel (who is an amazing artist) that I was a WINNER... what a great package of goodies that are coming my way.
Paint canvas with gesso, dry. Add a thin layer of glue, lay napkin gently on glue. Paint glue over napkin and add a strip of music. Lightly gesso over the canvas again.
Lay bubble wrap over the canvas to remove a little more of the gesso and give it a little texture. Paint with Sakura Crystal Lacquer and Citrine Pearl + Tanzanite Pearl for the grass and stems with leaves. Set aside to dry.
Gesso over chipboard, dry, add Sakura Crystal Lacquer with Terri Sproul Mixers. Sakura Crystal Lacquer and Citirne Pearl on the large and small gears for the body and head of the chicks. Sakura Crystal Lacquer and Citrine Pearl + Shimmer Garnet mixed for orange on the keys for the legs/feet and a little for the beaks on smaller gear.
There at least six ways to make your stamp dollars go further at Viva Las Vegastamps! First, if you like unmounted stamps, purchase acrylic blocks and buy unmounted rubber.
Second, you could buy a Pound o' Rubber! YES, a whole POUND! It is a grab bag and you don’t know what you are going to get. For the price you sure get a BANG FOR YOUR BUCK. You have to be willing to gamble a little... I have gotten 4 grab bags and have only had 3 duplicate stamps. I am addicted to grab bags!!! If you want to start out small there several sizes of grab bags to choose from!
Third, watch for pre-orders on the Viva Las Vegastamps! online store. There is usually something that you can pre-order and get a substantial savings. Sign up for the news letter to get the latest news
The fourth, is what I am going to share with you today. That is using the same image with different sayings! Find an image that is versatile, like the Easy Dog Rider, then look for sayings that will work with that image. If you are on a budget when you start your stamp collection and you aren’t a gambler this may be the way to go!
All stamps in the samples are from Viva Las Vegastamps! All images were stamped with Stewart Superior Memories Black Ink and heat embossed with VLVS! Ultra High Gloss Embossing Powder... a little color was added to the images with COPICS. All papers are scraps from my stash!
I love altering things... especially small tins. Molding with Creative Paperclay® gives endless options when it comes to what ever you want to include in a shrine. If you can't find something your want to include MAKE IT! Frozen Charlottes are my favorite object to use when altering. Here I have taken one of the dolls and used it in an ALTOIDS TIN!
Using Creative Paperclay® I molded Frozen Charlottes in an Articus mold.
Once the she was dry I sanded her down and painted her with Terri Sproul Mixers Citrine & Crystal Lacquer. Attached a small heart made with Creative Paperclay® with the lacquer.
I gathered anything I thought I might like to use... I didn't use half of it. The background papers are from my stash. The images are from Graphic 45 Olde Curiosity Shoppe
The tag on the front of the the tin has a light coating of lacquer.
The bird was molded from a paper casting mold I found art my local thrift store. I painted it with Terri Sproul Mixers Tanzanite Pearl & Crystal Lacquer.
Add a few oddities and you have your own little curiosity shoppe!!
Recently I was invited to participate on a “Fairy in a Jar" swap. I didn’t know what one was, so I Googled “Fairy in a Jar.” OH MY GOSH! Where have I been, there are so many videos I was amazed. I am sharing my prototype for my swap.
Make the wings first and allow plenty of time to dry. Using a stamped image for the size of wings needed for the fairy I followed the instructions from Gloriann Irizarry’s Dec 31st post on the Sakura Blog. Please refer to Gloriann Irizarry’spost HERE to make wings! I used Crystal Lacquer and Purple Color Crystal Lacquer.
Using Sakura Crystal Lacquer and mixing Mixers Citrine Pearl and Tanzanite resulted in a beautiful green for the bottom of the jar. For the blue sky paint Crystal Lacquer and Aquamarine on the back half of the jar (not too thick or it will drip. While the lacquer was still wet sprinkle a little Glitz Effects-Gold on the blue background. Then with a gold pen drew swirls on the jar. Mistake the gold pen was not permanent on glass!!! Thank goodness I have Crystal Lacquer, I set the pen swirls with clear Crystal Lacquer!
Once the lacquer has dried drip a few drops of Crystal Lacquer in the bottom of the jar and add some sheet moss. for an adhesive all embellishments (pine cones and roses) are dipped in Crystal Lacquer as are added.
The fairy image was printed on copy paper and mounted on chip board, then carefully cut out. Her dress was painted with Shimmer Garnet and then a layer of Purple Pearl.
The wings were painted with Purple Pearl and dusted with Ultra fine GLitter. Wings were attached with Crystal Lacquer. Then she was crowned.
Add trim, flowers and button to finish off the top of the jar!
Close-up looking in the jar!
I just love her wings!
