Altered Paint Brush Swap with VLVS!

At Viva Las VegaStamps! we have a swap periodically... I have really enjoyed them the first one we did was altered mouse traps.  This one is paint brushes... I really had a great time with this one.  Only two rules... follow the theme "Nature" and you must use one VLVS! stamp!

The fun part of this project was melting the bristles with the heat gun.  They curled up nicely to give the brush a nice bushy look!
The handle was painted with Alcohol Inks.. it almost looks like beautiful wood! The VLVS! used were the VLVS! Birds Nest and VLVS! Large Bird Flying Left. Both were stamped with black ink, heat embossed with VLVS! Ultra High Gloss Embossing Powder, colored with Tim Holtz Distress Markers and coated with a thin layer of 3D Sakura Crystal Lacquer.

Add blue eggs (Dew Drops), paper flowers and feathers for the fishing tackle shop!!!
Top the brushes off with beautiful silk ribbons!

Keep an eye out for the next swap!!!
JOIN THE FUN!

My Farewell Post as a Sakura Design Team Member!

First, I would like to congratulate the new Sakura Hobby Craft Design Team.  I am sure we are in for a ton of great inspiration over the next six months!

The 3D Crystal Lacquer is my go to adhesive.  I also love using it as a finish on many of my projects.  Add Terri Sproul Mixers in the 3D Crystal Lacquer and your imagination is your only limit... you can create so many projects with the combination.

I use 3D Crystal Lacquer on almost all of my paper projects. It gives paper a thickness that I love working  with. There are a lot of digital images you can print from online sites like AlteredPages.com. To give those images a little more pop I cover them with a thin layer of 3D Crystal Lacquer.

Here images from AlteredPages.com are covered with 3D Crystal Lacquer before I cut them from the page. I adhered the German Scrap/Dresden to the pictures with the 3D Crystal Lacquer.
The tags fold into each other to create a nice card!

Before I leave I would like to share a few of my favorite projects I made with
3D Crystal Lacquer and Terri Sproul Mixers!

It has been a great being on the team!! I hope the next enjoys it as much as I have!

THANK YOU
Sakura Hobby Craft and Terri Sproul!

Spray paint the Terra Cotta Cherub with a very light coating of Krylon Cherry Bomb Glitter Blast Glitter Spray. When dry gently wipe gold paint over the cherub being careful not to cover the Krylon glitter. Adhere heart bead and arrow.
Print Altered Pages Victorian Valentine images on matt photo paper.  Fussy cut and cover with a light coating of Sakura Lacquer to bring out the colors of the images.  To raise the images on the left, paint two dominos gold and wrap with German Scrap.  The image on right is on an alpa dice with a hint of gold paint toped with a Scrabble tile painted gold and wrapped with German Scrap.

    To make embellishments:
  • Use Scrabble pieces to spell LOVE if you don't have an "O" a heart works in its place. Cover the letters with Sakura Crystal Lacquer mixed with Pink Mixers.
  • Bottle cap cut an Eiffel Tower image with a 1" punch. Adhere  in the bottle cap with Sakura Lacquer then cover the image with the lacquer.  Let it dry for 24 hours. Add lacquer around the outside of the image in the bottle cap, add see beads.
  • PARIS - stamp the word Paris in paper clay, let dry.  Use red and gold craft paint, coat with lacquer.

Sakura Vintage By the SeaShore Valentine!

Vintage Valentines are my favorites. Here is an altered tin with a vintage by the SeaShore Valentine image.
Coat the tin with the Red from the Sakura Primary Color Set 3D Crystal Color Lacquer. While wet add the red doily. Adhere the image with Sakura 3D Crystal Lacquer and coat the image with a thin layer of Sakura 3D Crystal Lacquer.  I find the  lacquer enhances the color of the images.
Adhere small shells around the edge of the doily using the
Sakura 3D Crystal Lacquer add a few shells to the bottom of the image. With the Red Stikles add a border around the tin. Use Gold Stikles to create a border around the image.
Fill your tin with fun messages for your VALENTINE!!!!

Supplies:
Tin
Stickles Red & Gold

Altered Pages

It is time to make some
old fashioned Victorian Valentines!
Give a special someone in your life a handmade Valentine!
With lace, paper doilies, glitter and a sweet image.

Did you know,
Valentine's Day reached its height of celebration during the Victorian Era?

Or that some Valentines were so thick with layers of paper and embellishments they were given in presentation boxes.
The image for this Valentine is from the Victorian Valentine collage sheet. It was first adhered to a thin piece of chipboard (about the thickness of a cereal box) and then fussy cut.  Also cut a heart from the chipboard slightly smaller than the largest doily.  Adhere the large  doily to the chipboard, glue lace around the backside edge of the chipboard. Add lace around the backside of the smaller heart.  Attach smaller heart to the larger heart. Use a black marker and carefully edge the fussy cut images.  Attach lace around the heart in the image. Attach the images with foam tape to give dimension. Add gold, red and diamond glitter. Let dry.
Supplies:
Doilies - Large (6 inch) and small (3 1/2 inch)
Lace - White and Red & White
Giltter - Red, Gold and Diamond
Black Marker
Foam Tape

Please come by and join the Altered Pages Monthly Challenge, the theme for January is "Snow Dancing!" The design team has created some wonderful inspiration.
