Recyling an Old Book for a Paper Journal

USArtQuest has been an awesome partner with the design team at Altered Pages during March, their products are high quality top of the line. Believe me, no one is paying me to say this! Over the next three days I have a project that I will be sharing in stages.  I am up-cycling an old book to be my journal.  I am not sure if I would call my journal a junk-journal or a glue book.  It is not your typical journal, maybe it should be called a paper journal. 

The plan is to fill this journal with  images of  Marie Antoinette from Altered Pages collection of AWESOME images!

Before we get to the journal I would love to introduce you to the wonderful handmade papers from USArtQuest!

They are a feast to a paper addicts eyes!  I can almost feel them with my eyes!

The colors and textures are to die for, there are mulberry papers, glittered papers, sewn papers, botanicals, even wax.

You will find prints and patterns, USArtQuest has it all.

Back to my journal.  If you touch and feel handmade papers you will not be able to toss even the smallest pieces.  That is where a paper journal comes in.

Along with other USArtQuest and Altered Pages products I will be sharing my paper journal journey!

It will be filled with pockets, tags, envelopes and more!

To start I find old books that have outlived there useful life.  The old books HERE would be great for the cover!

Cut the pages from the spine.  If the book is really old it will practically fall apart. 

Then the fun begins... selecting the papers to use in the paper journal book.

Tomorrow we will add pages to the book! 

Mica Stamping for Cards

This month at Altered Pages our design team is partnering with USArtQuest.  Today I am using the USArtquest Mica Tiles to stamp the Eiffel Tower to use on my cards from the DIY Card Making Kit.  I had some time at the crop this weekend at the Scrapbook Zone so I got ahead start on my post for Monday!!

 

 

DIY Card Making Kit

USArtQuest Mica Tiles

Embossing Powder

Double sided tape

Glue

Dimensional Adhesives

Large Acrylic Block

Eiffel Tower from Paris Muse Stamp

Black ink

 

 

With Black ink stamp the Eiffel Tower from Paris Muse Stamp on four sheets of mica, once for each card. Heat emboss with embossing powder to set the ink on the mica.

 

Addition to the kit card - Flowers

 

Attach the white paper strip and mica with Double sided tape, (put the tape on the mica where it would be hidden by embellishments)  

 

Adhere sentiment with Dimensional Adhesives and flowers with Glue.

Additions to the kit card - Bingo Card

Large Glitz Rhinestone

 

Attach the white paper strip and mica with Double sided tape, then the bingo card. 

 

 

 

Attach the then the bingo card, then adhere sentiment with Dimensional Adhesives.  Finally add  a Large Glitz Rhinestone!

 

Additions to the kit card - Mini Edges

 

Attach the white paper strip black Mini Edges and mica with Double sided tape.  

 

 

Adhere sentiment with Dimensional Adhesives. 

 

Additions to the kit card - Mirrors 

 

Attach the white paper strip and mica with Double sided tape.

 

 

 

Adhere sentiment with Dimensional Adhesives. Add Mirrors with Glue!

 

 

 

These would be great cards to send individually

or give as a gift set!
