Steampunk Necklaces! In Just Steampunk Vol. 3

I had four Steampunk Pendants published in "Just Steampunk Vol. 3" I love dabbling in jewelry.  Sometimes I alter what is found and other times I create something entirely new.
Not long ago at Echo ArtWorks in Bremerton WA I found these amazing charms: a telescope, divers helmet, magnifying glass and compass. I knew they would make great Steampunk pendants.

Pictured above on page 17 of "Just Steamupunk Vol. 3"

Telescope on swivel, with gears and butterfly.
Divers Helmet on swivel with gears, fish and sea star.
Magnifying glass on swivel with gear and old clock key.
Compass on swivel with gears.

My Punk-olator in "Just Steampunk Vol. 3"!

I  received my copy of "Just Steampunk Vol. 3" this weekend.  I was so excited to see all the projects that I submitted made it in the magazine.  Besides the Punk-olator pictured below; there were rings, necklaces and button fairies!

I was really happy with the page (71) they dedicated to my Punk-olator!   The base is an old party size percolator that was destined for the garbage dump!!!
It took hours to layer all the gears, locking washers, charms, Dew Drops,  keys, pen nibs, horse nails and found items. Everything was attached with E6000.
The bird was very blue before I painted him copper. He has been altered with paint, a few gears, watch parts and Robin's Nest Dew Drops add a touch of color.

Watch for posts this week with my other projects published!

When you travel do pack a kit to create with?

When you travel do take your creativity with you?

I love to have things to work on during down time when I travel.  I was visiting my father, who is an architect, this past July. One day I sort of took over his drafting table!
Just in the planning stages of my cards in these pictures!

Some of the supplies in my travel kit:
Altered Pages Collage Images
Craft Clock
Leaky Shed Gears
Glitz Paper Pack
Stella Wink
Small emblishments
Dew Drops
Foam dots
Tacky Glue
Glue Stick
During my visit, my father came up with few things that I could use in my card making. Here is a box of stamps that he had used to create landscapes on his drawings. Below I used one of the stamps to create the background on my ballon card.
The Ballon on this card is from the Altered Pages Collage Sheet Steampunked Machines.  Also from Altered Pages is a gear from Leaky Shed Watch Parts.

The collage image on the second card is from Altered Pages.  Also from Altered Pages is the Craft Clock Face,  the background paper is from a Glitz 6x6 paper pack.

Create whenever and where ever!!!
Finish your summer with a creative BANG!

"Open Me"

"Open Me" is an altered frame from the thrift store. When I am not creating in my studio you will find me on the hunt.  I love to frequent thrift stores, garage sales and auctions, looking for items that can be up-cycled, like this frame (cost $1.00).

The frame was altered using products from The Robin's Nest and Clearsnap. The featured paper this month is the Robin's  Nest Classic Swirl paper.   All the papers in the Classic Glitter Swirl collection on sale this month - 20% off!
This is a before picture of the frame.
Sand the frame to remove some of the paint, this allows the glue to stick to the surface. If not sanded the paper would peel off the smooth paint in a matter of time. Ink the edges with brown and spritz Gold Glow Smooch Spritz on surfaces that won't be covered with paper.
Cut The Robin's Nest White Glitter Swirl Cardstock to fit the frame. To distress paper use a cosmetic sponge, starting off the edge of the paper take a swirling motion to apply. The glitter on the paper acts like a resist. Adhere with a quick dry glue. File the edges with sand paper or a nail file, gently ink edges to give it a finished look.
Prepping the faries: Ink the GinasDesign Fairies with Patina Mixd Media Inx from Clearsnap, then spritz with Gold Glow Smooch Spritz. Add a bit of Clearsnap Sparkling Amethyst Glitter to the wings!
Use Clearsnap Design Adhesives make the tag on the out side of the frame. Cut the double sided adhesive "OPEN ME" from the sheet. Adhere to a piece of white card stock and sprinkle with Clearsnap Sparkling Amethyst Glitter.  It is amazing how well the adhesive holds the glitter. Spritz with Gold Glow Smooch Spritz, let dry then cut out and adhere to the door.
Also on the out side on of the door screw an eyelet (the kind used for wire to hang pictures). Tie ribbon with key to the eyelet. Adhere the keyhole that has been distressed with brown ink and spritzed with Gold Glow Smooch Spritz.
What is a project without a little bling!!!
On the frame I used:

Mount sitting fairies on the the inside of the panels.
Precious Girl Diamonds Dew Drops (Purple) add a finishing touch to the arch on the frame.
The fairy in the center is mounted on The Robin's Nest Pink Classic Glitter Cardstock with foam dots. Hyacinths Dew Drops finish the inside of the frame.
I will be using this frame as a background for my fairy collection!
