Prima Flowers on Bird in a Cage

I am so excited that the Design Team at Altered Pages has the opportunity to be a product partner with PRIMA this month.  We plan to inspire creativity through our projects.

Prima has the most amazing line products.  Each package of flowers is unique with so many ways to create with them!  The Art Alchemy Acrylic Paint will cover just about any surface you apply it to.  I plan to try it on as many surfaces as possible.

Supplies for this project:
Prima Art Alchemy Acrylic Paint:
  Metallique Dark Forest
  Metallique Soft Satin
  Sparks Dragon Eye
Prima Flowers
Black birdcage - recycled
Chipboard Bird - Queen Sparrow
Ribbon
Large Sheet Music
Rhinestones
3D Foam Mounting Squares
Tacky Glue

First, paint the flat black birdcage with Prima Art Alchemy Acrylic Paints. Fully cover the cage with Metallique Dark Forest.  Let it dry. Then with a paper towel dab a little of the Sparks Dragon Eye over the cage and let it dry.  Finally, with a paper towel dab the cage with Metallique Soft Satin.  When you are finished the cage will appear distressed.

Next, paint the Chipboard Bird - Queen Sparrow.  I did not have a blue Prima Art Alchemy Acrylic Paint, all the same I wanted the shimmer of the paints.  I tinted the Metallique Soft Satin to get the color I wanted for the bird.  The chipboard crown was painted with Sparks Dragon Eye.

Once the bird is dry assemble.  Adhere the wing with 3D Foam Mounting Squares.  Add rhinestones to the crown and adhere with Tacky Glue.

For the birds nest cut thin strips of Large Sheet Music and gently curl with the edge of the scissors.

Everything is ready to assemble.

Put the Large Sheet Music curls on the bottom of the cage, gently place the bird eggs on the sheet music.

Add one Prima Flower inside of the cage.  Place the cage top on the bottom and secure tabs.  Gently slide the bird into the cage from the side.

Add two Prima Flowers and butterfly to the top of the birdcage.

This would make a beautiful center piece for an afternoon tea, baby shower, ladies luncheon and more.

Be sure to stop by for more PRIMA inspiration tomorrow!
Let us know how much you enjoy the projects we have created!

Altered Pages & Lost Coast Design Partnering during July

This month our design team over at AlteredPages.com is really excited to be partnering with Lost Coast Designs a rubberstamp company.    Lost Coast Designs has supper great quality stamps.  The fine detail in the rubber is amazing!

Today I have decided to use the Lost Coast Designs Zentangle Feather #3 Stamp on several cards and tags.  Hopefully  to inspire you to use one stamp with different techniques and get amazing results.

I have stamped directly on a Gel Press Print, on vintage text, plain manila tag, misted a manila tag, torn text, and fussy cut a feather.

Lost Coast Designs Zentangle Feather 3 Stamp (above)
Here you can see the detail on the inked stamp!

All images were stamped using an Acrylic Block with Black Ink and heat embossed with Embossing Powder - Black

Supplies:
Lost Coast Designs Zentangle Feather 3 Stamp
Acrylic Block
Altered Pages Vintage Birds Collage Sheet
Sunshine in My Soul 8x8 Paper Pad
Black Ink
Brown Ink
Embossing Powder Black
Spray Mists
Gel Press Plate
Acrylic paint
Dimensional Foam
Glue Stick
Double Sided Tape
Manila Tags
Vintage Text Paper
Card Base - Cardstock
Pens Gold and Silver
Metallic Luster Wax
Ribbon & Trims

For the first two cards I stamped on Vintage Text Paper.

The first one the image was cut and matted.

The second one the text was dampened with water and then torn from the page.

Sunshine in My Soul 8x8 Paper Pad was used as the mat on both cards. Brown Ink was used to distress the mat on the first card.  The mat on the second card was lined with a gold pen, the bird is from the  Altered Pages Vintage Birds Collage Sheet, also Metallic Luster Wax was applied to the feather. The paper was adhered with Double Sided Tape, the images adhered with Glue Stick. Ribbon  and Fabric Flower were used to embellish them.

The background on the two cards above are from Gel Press prints created a few months ago using acrylic paint.

The first card was stamped directly on the Gel Press Print.

The second feather image was stamped on white card stock and fussy cut!

The Gel Press Prints were lined with a silver pen.  The first card is elegant with out any embellishments.   The second card has a ribbon across the top that appears to be tied to the feather.  The fussy cut feather is attached with Dimensional Foam.

Finally, here are two Manila Tags, great to add to a gift bag or present. On both of the image was stamped directly on the tags.  The first one was sprayed with two different Spray Mists before stamping. The second to stamped on the tag with out any embellishing.

Hope you have been inspired
to try different techniques using your stamps!

Christmas Cards ~ Tree Ornaments!

Christmas is one of my favorite times of year.  I love making cards! Today I have a couple of cards that the recipient can cherish forever on their Christmas tree!  All papers used on my cards are from The Robin's Nest!

HOT AIR BALLOON ORNAMENT

 ~

A beautiful hot air balloon ornament on a Christmas card!

Ink edges using brown ink using a dauber, the dauber will help keep the distressing smooth and not show any lines.

Stamp the back of the 7 of the balloons with a word stamp like the one pictured or harlequin stamp. Then distress the back with brown ink like on the front.  Fold seven of the balloons in half, glue each of them on the center fold and place them inside each other.  Then glue them on one of the flat balloons set aside earlier.

Cut Winter Snowflake Cardstock as mat for card. Add sparkle to the snowflakes with Wink of Stella.

Punch pennant flags from Winter Snowflake Cardstock (use the backside for the pennants.) Paint each with Wink of Stella.

Add flowers and Metallic Gold Dew Drops with tacky glue.

Add lace and yarn to the balloon using tacky glue as pictured above, additional glue maybe needed as each piece is added to the balloon.  Fold excess yarn and lace onto the back,  let dry.

When the tacky glue has dried, add the pennants to the yarn.  On this balloon five pennants were used.

The final balloon set aside will be used to cover the back.  First, cut two pieces of  Honeycomb Daisy Glitter Cardstock for the basket of the balloon.  Sandwich two pieces of yarn between the two baskets and tacky glue together.  Glue the yarn from the basket to the balloon and then attach a piece of yarn to the top for the hanger.  Spread glue over the back and attach to the balloon.

Hang the balloon on the card with non-permanent adhesive.

The recipient is able to remove the balloon and use as an ornament!

A bird ornament on a Christmas card!

Create a pattern of a bird and trace it twice onto Cindy Lou Dot Glitter Cardstock, cut the two pieces out.

Adhere one piece with glue stick to the chipboard let set for a few minutes.  Use an emery board to distress edges.

Adhere feather for tail and ribbon (sandwich between the paper and chipboard) before adding the back side of the bird.

Punch or cut out four hearts, two slightly smaller.

Glitter glue around the edges of the bird and the hearts, let it dry, glitter glue around the other side of the bird.  Add Metallic Gold Dew Drops to the plastic eye lashes. Set aside to dry.
