Six Days Until Christmas~

Do you have ornaments on the tree that hold a memory or special meaning?  This little sock monkey reminds me of one my aunt made us many years ago.

Mermaid Ornament

This my mermaid ornament has to be one of my all time favorites.

All metal charms and pressed metal from Echo ArtWorks my all time favorite local bead store!

Supplies:
Small tin
Beads & Charms
Head Pins
Vintaj Patinas
Glass glitter
Stickles
Tulle
Vintage silk ribbons

This is the finished ornament, the tin is approximately 2.5 inches in diameter.

The tin was first painted with Vintaj Patinas. The rim coated with glue to adhere vintage glass silver glitter.  Add a bit of Stickles for bling in the creases of the tin.  One hole was punched in the top and three on the bottom of the tin.

Tule adds a softness to the inside of the tin.  A stamped metal heart with a mermaid & seahorse was glued to the bottom of the tin. A stamped metal heart frame was hung from the hole in the top of the tin.  Attached to a headpin with beads on the outside of the time. Colorful ribbons tied around the headpin.

Three headpins with beads and charms (sea shell and seahorses) hang from the lower three holes.  The heart in the bottom of the tin and the one dangling from the hole creates a 3-D effect.  The beads and ribbons from Echo ArtWorks.

'Tis the season - I joined a handmade holiday ornament swap in November of 2013! We each had to make two ornaments - one to swap and one to donate to the Charity Wings auction tree.
Have fun creating your ornaments this Christmas!

Reycycling ~ Create a Sweet Ornament

I love recycling!  Today I have an ornament made from the cardboard center from one of my used double-sided tape rolls.

Supplies:
Tree from Stash for center of ornament

Cut a circle from a sheet of Hello December paper pad.

With tacky glue attach the Hello December paper to the back of the cardboard circle!

Attach lace around the outside of the cardboard with tacky glue.  Also adhere the tree to the inside of the ornament, add a dew drop to the top of the tree.

Add stickles to the outer edge of the cardboard.  Attach a piece of ribbon for hanging.  Let it dry!

Christmas Tart Tin Ornament!

Let me count the ways you can use Emerald Creek embossing powder!  Cards, tags, candles, ornaments and more.

Today I took a small tart tin and embossed it to create my ornament.

Supplies:
Altered Pages collage Christmas Bottle Caps
Emerald Creek Candy Red Embossing Powder
Emerald Creek Candy Green Embossing Powder
VersaMark
Tart Tin
Bottle Cap
Dew Drops
Tulle
Glue
Ribbon

Today I transformed this small Tart Tin.

Apply VersaMark (direct from the pad) to the outside of the Tart Tin, dust with Emerald Creek Candy Red Embossing Powder, gently heat with heat tool.  Be careful not to burn yourself when heating the metal.

Apply VersaMark inside the tine (with a finger on the ridges), dust with Emerald Creek Candy Red Embossing Powder, gently heat with heat tool. In the bowl of the tin apply VersaMark, dust with Emerald Creek Candy Green Embossing Powder,  gently heat with heat tool.

Punch an image from the Altered Pages collage Christmas Bottle Caps.  Edge the image with  VersaMark, apply Emerald Creek Candy Green Embossing Powder,  gently heat with heat tool.

Edge the Bottle Cap with VersaMark, apply Emerald Creek Candy Red Embossing Powder,  gently heat with heat tool.  Glue the image to the center of the Bottle Cap.

Attach the Bottle Cap to the center of the Tart Tin.  With Glue attach Dew Drops around the edge of the tin!

Add tulle to the back and a ribbon to hang the ornament.

What a great little gift!

Can you believe it is time to start your holiday preparations?

Use your DIXIE BELLE PAINTS to create your gift giving Christmas Ornaments.  I had these tiny star boxes in my stash that were just waiting for the perfect project.  I have turned them into little sea vignettes....

Using both the box and lids create twice as many little vignettes!

The little star boxes were painted with DIXIE BELLE Sea Glass Chalk Paint!

Some of them have Washi Tape wrapped around the outside.

Small burlap squares make the perfect background.

Dew Drops add a bit of sparkle!

Use tacky glue to attach embellishments

This box lid I left the back unpainted.

Others are painted inside and out!

Finally attach a twine hanger (to be added)

Enjoy creating your own little ornaments...

These could be used all year round!

Christmas Cards ~ Tree Ornaments!

Christmas is one of my favorite times of year.  I love making cards! Today I have a couple of cards that the recipient can cherish forever on their Christmas tree!  All papers used on my cards are from The Robin's Nest!

HOT AIR BALLOON ORNAMENT

 ~

A beautiful hot air balloon ornament on a Christmas card!

Ink edges using brown ink using a dauber, the dauber will help keep the distressing smooth and not show any lines.

Stamp the back of the 7 of the balloons with a word stamp like the one pictured or harlequin stamp. Then distress the back with brown ink like on the front.  Fold seven of the balloons in half, glue each of them on the center fold and place them inside each other.  Then glue them on one of the flat balloons set aside earlier.

Cut Winter Snowflake Cardstock as mat for card. Add sparkle to the snowflakes with Wink of Stella.

Punch pennant flags from Winter Snowflake Cardstock (use the backside for the pennants.) Paint each with Wink of Stella.

Add flowers and Metallic Gold Dew Drops with tacky glue.

Add lace and yarn to the balloon using tacky glue as pictured above, additional glue maybe needed as each piece is added to the balloon.  Fold excess yarn and lace onto the back,  let dry.

When the tacky glue has dried, add the pennants to the yarn.  On this balloon five pennants were used.

The final balloon set aside will be used to cover the back.  First, cut two pieces of  Honeycomb Daisy Glitter Cardstock for the basket of the balloon.  Sandwich two pieces of yarn between the two baskets and tacky glue together.  Glue the yarn from the basket to the balloon and then attach a piece of yarn to the top for the hanger.  Spread glue over the back and attach to the balloon.

Hang the balloon on the card with non-permanent adhesive.

The recipient is able to remove the balloon and use as an ornament!

Adhere one piece with glue stick to the chipboard let set for a few minutes.  Use an emery board to distress edges.

Adhere feather for tail and ribbon (sandwich between the paper and chipboard) before adding the back side of the bird.

Punch or cut out four hearts, two slightly smaller.

Glitter glue around the edges of the bird and the hearts, let it dry, glitter glue around the other side of the bird.  Add Metallic Gold Dew Drops to the plastic eye lashes. Set aside to dry.
