Relative Histoy - "My Dearest Jane" Tag

Last Saturday we had a wonderful time with friends during the launch of the "My Dearest Jane" collection! During the event we learned a bit about Jane and her life, had a fun Pride & Prejudice quiz, there was a free download and then a craft demo with the free download. Paula Muchado created two beautiful tags and shared how she makes tassels!

During the event I was fussy cutting my frames and the images of women. Here is what I was inspired to create with the free download.

This tag will be used to grace a future gift bag!

Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Ink: Vintage Photo and Crackling Campfire
Doily
Glitter & glue
Lace & Ribbon

The frame and image of the lady were printed on light cardstock , then fuzzy cut and edged with Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Ink: Vintage Photo. The RH Romantique 004 paper used for the die cut leaves and the RH Romantique 011 used for the die cut flowers. Die cut three leaves and vine from RH Romantique 004 and seven flowers from RH Romantique 011. All the die cuts were inked with Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Ink: Vintage Photo, set aside.

Assembling: adhere RH My Dearest Jane floral background to the tag. Ink around the edges of the tag with Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Ink: Vintage Photo and Crackling Campfire.

Cut the doily to the desired size and adhere lining up the edge of the doily and edge of tag on the left.

Cut the RH My Dearest Jane red leafy paper as a background to fit behind the oval frame and adhere to the tag. Then with dimensional foam attach the frame and figure of a lady over the red background, at the same time work on the placement of the flowers and leaves. Add centers to the flowers with glue & glitter. Add a scrap of paper at the bottom of the tag and the lace.

Today I would like introduce you to our New Design Team Members who recently joined Relative History in preparation for our new Jane Austen product launch "My Dearest Jane".

I am also going to take this opportunity to remind you of the wonderful and extremely talented people who have been working with me for over a year!

We are a small company who are growing both locally and internationally! Our friendly team has already achieved some fantastic results and the Magnificent Ten new Ladies are already adding so much! We are all so excited about the coming months.

During the Jane Austen Promotion we will be taking a Journey through 4 of her best loved novels starting with "Pride & Prejudice" followed by "Sense & Sensibility", "Emma" and ending with "Mansfield Park". We will be holding an event for each book where we will be including items for book lovers, crafters and those with a love of history.
A must for any Jane Austen Fan!

Wiper Card Box Picture Instructions

This is a supplement for my card kit Graphic 45 Catch of the day 

For this card I used a personal die to cut the base card, the Stamps of Life die, “Surprise Wiper Card Dies Set.”  I am using it to make a Wiper BOX Card.

Note:  I wanted this to fit in an A2 envelope, so I cut off a ¼ inch off the end without the scores!

HOW TO IN PICTURES

           

1-      On the rectangle with the triangle scored on one corner: fold the score line

2-      Attach the sticker to the small rectangle with the triangle in the lower left (that will be the wiper piece of the card.)  Butt the top of the sticker to the top edge and left side of the wiper piece.  Trim excess around the sticker. Do not cover the triangle.  Cut away excess card stock on the top and right side of the sticker and any any part of the stick that would cover the triangle. Nothing should cover the triangle.  SEE the middle picture above.  If there is excess cardstock below the sticker DO NOT trim it off.  

3-      Turn the wiper piece over and put glue on the triangle ONLY.  Be careful not to have too much glue!

        

4-      There are two larger panels with 2 score lines, fold all of those score lines.  Since this card base is not made of pattern paper you will need to choose what is the inside of the card. 

On one of the large pieces with the score lines to the left you will see the indent of a slit, line up the bottom of the   rectangle with the slit as pictured above. Hold until the glue sets.

5-      Be sure when the wiper piece folded over it does not go over the score line as pictured

6-      When gluing the flaps, they need to be glued to the inside of the box so there are no seams on the outside.  Put glue on the left side as pictured.  Then lay the edge of the second large card base without the score lines to the flap.

 

7-      Laying the card/box flat put glue on the second flap as pictures

8-      Now bring the right side over to the left and press it flat.  The edges should meet perfectly, and it will easily lay flat when finished.

     

9-      After the glue settles your wiper box should be functional and ready to decorate.

 

WHAT TO DO NEXT

·       There are two wood panels that may need to be trimmed for the side panels, adhere them to the sides.

·       Ink the Ivory piece of paper use a light blue (Distress Oxide Stormy Sky) in the middle and darker blue (Distress Oxide Chipped Sapphire) on the edges.  This piece may need to be trimmed to fit the front of the card. Adhere to card

·       Adhere “Seas the DAY” to the bottom of the front Panel

·       Adhere the boy fishing

·       Mount the “Crest Fishing Pier” card on blue mat and adhere to the card with dimension foam

·       Add the fish with twine

 I love working with nautical themes.  

Today, I created a card using the "Sailing Nauticals" stickers from {a vintage girl}and her daughter!

This is a slimline, the ivory frame has been raised using dimensional foam.  The die cut waves are attached to the back of the frame and the stickers are adhered to the background paper giving the card a 3D effect.

Art Venture - Purse

During the month of February 2021 - I participated in an amazing venture lead by Elena Etcheverry. We had a choice of three, six or twelve classes with some of the most amazing artists.

We had live online instruction, access to the recorded video forever and most amazing the artists did an encore class!

Another class I took was an altered a leather purse with Chelsea Evans. I love the transformation of my purse... I still need to work on the handle! I had a great time and learned a lot about the different paints from Wise Owl and techniques to paint on leather! THANK YOU!
