Art Venture - Purse

During the month of February 2021 - I participated in an amazing venture lead by Elena Etcheverry. We had a choice of three, six or twelve classes with some of the most amazing artists.

We had live online instruction, access to the recorded video forever and most amazing the artists did an encore class!

Another class I took was an altered a leather purse with Chelsea Evans. I love the transformation of my purse... I still need to work on the handle! I had a great time and learned a lot about the different paints from Wise Owl and techniques to paint on leather! THANK YOU!

IN HONOR OF EARTH DAY

Hello, I am here with a few ATCs honoring Earth Day on April 22. To honor the day I created three ATCs of trees, using twine as the base of the trees.

Art Anthology Supplies used: 
Velvet Dimensional Paints: Desire, Marigold and Gecko
Shine Dimensional Paints: Ruby, Onyx and Cocoa
Sorbet Dimensional Paints: Guava, Sea Serpent and Blueberry
Texture Sets: Patina - Teal Velvet
Stone Effects Dimensional Medium: Sandstone 
Wax Paste: Antique Gold
Craft Matt and Palette Tool

Other Supplies:
ATC boards
White Gesso
Paint Brushes
Water
Glue
Paper Towel
Heat tool
Twine 
Wood birds 

First, I cut the twine into workable lengths and glued them to the ATCs board. I used a thick ATC board since I was going to be using a lot of glue, gesso and paint, the board would hold up to the liquid in the supplies I am painting with.

Once the glue was dry I covered the ATCs with two coats of gesso, letting it dry between coats. Use a heat tool to speed up the drying time.

I first added the Stone Effects Dimensional Medium: Sandstone along the bottom of each ATC. Then painted the trees with Shine Dimensional Paints: Cocoa. Finally, I painted the scene/backgrounds with all the awesome Art Anthology Dimensional Paints listed in the supplies above. I let paints dry before adding another color if I did not want them to blend.

To finish the ATCs, wooden birds were painted and adhered with glue and Wax Paste: Antique Gold was applied to the edges to frame the ATCs.

Altered Bottle With Prima!

If you are altering items or creating mixed media projects you will love the  Prima Art Alchemy Acrylic Paints.  So far this month I have used them on metal, canvas, chipboard and now glass.  I only used gesso on the canvas because it was white and wanted it to be black.  I have not had any issues with The  Prima Art Alchemy Acrylic Paints on any surfaces. 

 

Today I am sharing my altered bottle.  

 

Supplies:
Prima Art Alchemy Acrylic Paint:
  Metallique Dark Forest
  Metallique Soft Satin
  Sparks Dragon Eye
Prima Flowers
Altered Pages Collage - 1709 Marie Antoinette 
Bottle to alter
Manila Tag
Inks
Steampunk butterfly & Key- Chipboard
Tacky Glue
Glue Stick
Twine or Burlap

To start use Tacky Glue to adhere twine as it is wrapped around the bottle.  Let the glue dry overnight.  Paint the bottle with Prima Art Alchemy Acrylic Paint:  Metallique Dark Forest, let it dry

 

Paint chipboard butterfly with Prima Art Alchemy Acrylic Paint: Metallique Soft Satin, let it dry.  Then paint the key and gears with Sparks Dragon Eye, set aside to dry.

 

With a rag or paper towel gently rub Prima Art Alchemy Acrylic Paint: Sparks Dragon Eye over the Metallique Dark Forest on the bottle, leaving just a hint of gold on the surface. 

Once the Sparks Dragon Eye has dried on the chipboard pieces gently rub them with Metallique Dark Forest to distress them.

Distress the Manila Tag with assorted inks.  Fussy cut Marie image from the Altered Pages Collage - 1709 Marie Antoinette. Adhere to manila tag with glue stick.  

Adhere image of Marie to manila tag with glue stick.  With a rag add a touch of Metallique Soft Satin to the edges of the tag.

 

Use twine to attach the key and tag to the neck of the bottle.

 

Attach the flowers and butterfly to the bottle.   

 

What a beautiful centerpiece for any table.

Pink Cake

In June Altered Pages partnered with Foundations Décor.  I wanted to share a few of my projects here that I created for them!  This cute little cake would look great holding a birthday picture. 

 

 

This little wooden cake is one of the many Foundations Décor products available at Altered Pages!

Supplies
Foundations Décor Wood Cake Picture Holder
Dew Drops
Paint
Gesso
Glue

To start I painted all the pieces: the cake base & candle pink, the frosting trim with white gesso and the candle flame yellow. Then let dry.

 

Adhere pink dew drops to the cake frosting.   

Glue the flame to the candle, add a golden brown dew drop to the base of the flame.  

Glue pearl white dew drops to the base of he cake.

 

Once everything is dry assemble the cake.

Rustic Flowers

Last month I made this project for Altered Pages using a wood foundation from Foundations Décor.    

This sweet little flower pot would be sweet desk gift for a coworker, "I am thinking of you" for a friend or "just because"!  

For this project I decided to paint and paper the wood.

Supplies:
Foundations Décor Wood Flowers in Pot
Dixie Belle Chalk Paint Seas Glass and Flamingo
Glitz Laced with Grace Pattern Paper
Acrylic Paint Green & Yellow
Dew Drops
Red Ink
Embossing Powder
Glue

 

The Foundations Décor products are made of high quality wood. 

 

I used Dixie Belle Chalk Paints Sea Glass and Flamingo. The flower pot is Sea Glass and the flowers are Flamingo. 

 Paint the leaves  & stems with green acrylic paint and the flower centers with yellow acrylic paint.

 

Once painted, they were set aside to dry. 

 

Adhere the painted flowers to the wrong side of the pattern paper before cutting paper, let dry.  Do the same with the leaves and strips of paper on the flower pot. 
 

 

Paper from the Glitz Laced with Grace Pattern Paper 8x8 pad was used for this project.  
 

 

When the glue has dried trim excess paper, then use an emery board, sand paper or craft file to smooth the edges of the paper.
 

 

Pictured are the pieces ready to assemble...

 

Apply red ink to the heart, then heat emboss with red embossing powder. 

 Adhere Dew Drops with to the center of the flowers with glue, then glue the centers to the flowers, let dry. 

 

 

Now assemble the flower pot.
