Altered Pages & Lost Coast Design Partnering during July

This month our design team over at AlteredPages.com is really excited to be partnering with Lost Coast Designs a rubberstamp company.    Lost Coast Designs has supper great quality stamps.  The fine detail in the rubber is amazing!

Today I have decided to use the Lost Coast Designs Zentangle Feather #3 Stamp on several cards and tags.  Hopefully  to inspire you to use one stamp with different techniques and get amazing results.

I have stamped directly on a Gel Press Print, on vintage text, plain manila tag, misted a manila tag, torn text, and fussy cut a feather.

Here you can see the detail on the inked stamp!

All images were stamped using an Acrylic Block with Black Ink and heat embossed with Embossing Powder - Black

Supplies:

Acrylic Block
Altered Pages Vintage Birds Collage Sheet
Sunshine in My Soul 8x8 Paper Pad
Black Ink
Brown Ink
Embossing Powder Black
Spray Mists
Gel Press Plate
Acrylic paint
Dimensional Foam
Glue Stick
Double Sided Tape
Manila Tags
Vintage Text Paper
Card Base - Cardstock
Pens Gold and Silver
Metallic Luster Wax
Ribbon & Trims

For the first two cards I stamped on Vintage Text Paper.

The first one the image was cut and matted.

The second one the text was dampened with water and then torn from the page.

Sunshine in My Soul 8x8 Paper Pad was used as the mat on both cards. Brown Ink was used to distress the mat on the first card.  The mat on the second card was lined with a gold pen, the bird is from the  Altered Pages Vintage Birds Collage Sheet, also Metallic Luster Wax was applied to the feather. The paper was adhered with Double Sided Tape, the images adhered with Glue StickRibbon  and Fabric Flower were used to embellish them.

The background on the two cards above are from Gel Press prints created a few months ago using acrylic paint.

The first card was stamped directly on the Gel Press Print.

The second feather image was stamped on white card stock and fussy cut!

The Gel Press Prints were lined with a silver pen.  The first card is elegant with out any embellishments.   The second card has a ribbon across the top that appears to be tied to the feather.  The fussy cut feather is attached with Dimensional Foam

Finally, here are two Manila Tags, great to add to a gift bag or present. On both of the image was stamped directly on the tags.  The first one was sprayed with two different Spray Mists before stamping. The second to stamped on the tag with out any embellishing.

Hope you have been inspired
to try different techniques using your stamps!

Alice Butterfly

A couple of days ago I posted my Foundations Décor Floral Wood Butterfly. You have heard it before, I think outside the box! I kept looking at the butterfly and kept saying to myself something is missing.  This is a dimensional butterfly, it has a bare back.  The gears in my brain started churning, "what could I do without taking away from the stained wood?"

Add text, not just any text, butterfly related text.   One of my favorite themes is ALICE...  she has a conversation with a caterpillar... that was what lead to the text used for this project!

Supplies:
Foundations Decor Wood Butterfly
Clothes Pin
Dixie Belle Van Dyke Glaze
Metalic Rub on
Adhesive
Argyle Amber Florals
Text

Click on the above link to see how I stained the Foundations Decor Wood Butterfly with Dixie Belle Van Dyke Glaze to create the beautiful butterfly above.

Now let's get to work on the back side of the Foundations Decor Wood Butterfly.  Find the desired text you would like to use.  I have a paperback of  "Alice in Wonderland" that I use for art projects.

Glue stick was used to adhere the wing inserts to the back side of the text.   For this project I wanted to get the word caterpillar on my pieces as many times as possible.

Next sand to edges to give them a nice clean edge. I used sand paper since it was handy.  You could use a file or emery board for this step.

Using the same Metalic Rub on pallet as the edges of the wooden butterfly add color to the wing inserts, outlining the edges like the base!
Cut words to add to the clothespin.  Adhere with glue stick and add color with Metalic Rub ons
Adhere the wing inserts with glue and allow to dry.
Add an Argyle Amber Floral to the butterfly off center!  Now my  Foundations Décor Floral Wood Butterfly is finished!

Hope you have enjoyed my morphing butterfly!

Be sure to come back each day to see more Design Team projects using Foundations Décor products!
