Home is where the heart is!!!

As promised yesterday, I said I would share the other side of HOME TWEET from Foundations Décor products. 

 

I have added a clothespin to this side of the house to make it a bit more functional.

I love working on both sides of my Foundations Décor products.  My project today is the backside of my HOME TWEET HOME (above) that was shared on the Altered Pages blog yesterday.  You can see how I painted the house and created it HERE on the blog!

 

First, all sides of the Foundations Décor Sweet Heart House were painted with Dixie Belle Paint Butter Creamy! Let it dry, then trace the house onto the Sunshine in my Soul 8x8  Paper Pad. Apply a thin layer of glue to the house, then carefully attach the paper.  Let dry!   

 

 

Before attaching the roof to the front side I traced it onto chipboard, I wanted the house to have the same roof line on the back side. I painted the chipboard and a clothespin with Dixie Belle Paint Butter Creamy after they dried I paint then with Dixie Belle Van Dyke Glaze  removing the excess to get a distressed look.

 

The heart was painted  with Dixie Belle Paint Butter Creamy then distressed with  Metallic Luster Wax. 

 

I found an image of a door in my photos that was perfect for the house.  If you have been to Fort Worden you may recognize it.  The image was printed on copy paper and cut out.

Adhere the door, heart, roof, charm, flower and clothes pin with glue.

Add the final touches: the little key and dog a from an old Monopoly game!

Home Tweet Home

I  loved working with my Foundations Décor wood objects.  Here is one of the projects I created last month, today you will see side one.  Tomorrow I will share the back.  I enjoy creating two different themes on each side of my Foundation Décor projects!

Sheet Music
Flowers

This house is Foundations Décor Sweet Heart House.  I decided to give the first side a bird theme and call it "Home Tweet Home."

Foundations Décor Sweet Heart House comes with the three pieces pictured above.

First, I painted the all sides of the Foundations Décor Sweet Heart House with Dixie Belle Paint Butter Creamy! Let it dry, then traced the house onto the Sunshine in my Soul 8x8  Paper Pad.  

Apply a thin layer of glue to the house, then carefully attach the paper.  Let dry!  

Once it is dry sand the edges of the paper.

Paint the sides of the house with Dixie Belle Van Dyke Glaze and wipe off the excess.

 From the Sheet Music tear a small piece of music, distress with  Metallic Luster Wax. 

With glue adhere the piece of Sheet Music to the house!

 

Add additional embellishments: flowers, charms etc.  Home Tweet Home has a small metal plate that says:

Love

Joy

Peace

Patience

Wood Grain Butterfly!

This is one of my projects created week for Altered Pages.  During June we are partnering with Foundations Décor.  They make high quality wood foundations for awesome projects! 

 

 

 

If you know me, you know I work outside the box.  If you tell me "you have" to paint something pink, most likely I will paint it any color but pink. 

 

After opening the package I was looking at the beautiful wood grain on the Foundations Decor Wood Butterfly and thought I would show off the grain.   Instead of painting or papering the butterfly, I decided to enhanced the wood. 

 

Before I get too far ahead of myself, let me tell you about the Foundations Decor wood.  I expected a product that I would have the prep before working with it.  Many wood products need to be finished by sanding to get a smooth finish.  There was no need to sand the Foundations Decor products, the wood is ready to work with.  

Oh, and I decided the body of my Wood Butterfly would be a clothespin!

Here is a sample of a painted and papered Foundations Decor Wood Butterfly!

 

 

When I started out I had every intention of painting and papering my butterfly. 

 

Then I opened the package and saw the beautiful wood grain. On to PLAN B!  I decided to show case this side (pictured above) with the dark grain running through the wood.

 

I have used the  Dixie Belle Van Dyke Glaze on several project in the past and knew it would give my butterfly a beautiful finish.

 

I painted the front, back and sides; then quickly removed the excess with a rag. At the same time I painted a clothespin to match the Wood Butterfly.  

 

 

I let the Foundations Decor Wood Butterfly set for about 15 minutes.

 

Once it was dry I added Metalic Rub on Wax around the edges of the Wood Butterfly and the clothespin.

 

Then the clothespin was attached with glue to the side of the butterfly without the beautiful wood grain.  The clothespin will be used to hold pictures or memos on my desk! 

 

 

 

 

Next flowers were added to the side with the wood grain, being careful not to cover it.

 

Not every butterfly will have this beautiful wood grain.  You will have to choose how you finish your Wood Butterfly when you get it.  I love how the Metalic Rub on Wax enhances the edges of the butterfly.

 

Foundations Decor Wood Butterfly would make a great gift!

 Once it was painted, it dried for about 2 hours.

 Then it was ready for a coat of DIXIE BELLE VAN DYKE GLAZE!

I love how it turned out!  Perfect for my entry!
