Masculine Steampunk Card

MD Hobby and Craft Metal Sheet Roll is perfect for your Steampunk projects.  I wanted to try putting the metal through my die-cutting machine.  I worked perfectly, once I got the shims correct. The dies cut through the metal sheet just like paper!

 

 

 

 Carefully cut pieces of metal from the 12 in x 30 in roll, just large enough for your die.  I was able to cut the metal with a regular pair of scissors.  For the card I die-cut two small gears and one large gear.

Color the metal foil gears with Gilders Paste and irRESISTible spray, set aside to dry.

 

 

Stamp image on pattern paper, layer on black card stock with glue stick. Adhere to brown card base with double stick tape.  Add Steampunk Washi Tape. 

 

 

Adhere pen nib, dew drop and MD Hobby and Craft Metal gears with Tacky Glue.  It was fun working with HD Hobby and Craft Metal on my Steampunk card!

Mat images from Altered Pages collage sheet Life in the 50's

 

 

Attach doily to red background mat with glue stick, then staple MD Hobby & Craft  Metal Mesh the mat. Staple Bazzill borders to the card over the metal mesh.  Adhere mat to the white card base with double stick tape.

 

 

 

 

Use tacky glue to adhere Mat images from Altered Pages collage sheet Life in the 50's. Add large Glitz 3D sticker.  Finally embellish with red ribbon!

CELEBRATE CINCO de MAYO!

Cinco De Mayo is a celebration dating back to the Battle of Puebla.  The battle was between a 6,000 strong French army against a poorly  equipped Mexican army of 2,000.  The Mexican army defeated the French who were known to be the premier army of the world.   

A couple of days ago for Altered Pages I made this Pocket Letter Page.  I first cut the colors of the flag of Mexico: green, white and red to make the three columns of my page, 3 1/2 x 2 1/2 inches. 

Enlarge the map of Mexico to cover several of the cards.  Adhere to the cards with glue stick, butting up the cards so the map will line up when cut apart. Let dry before cutting.

Fussy cut images from Altered Pages collage sheets Cinco de Mayo, Olde Mexico & Flags of All Nations . Cut pieces of MD Hobby & Craft Metal Mesh to use as an embellishment on the page.  Using scraps of the green, white and red cut banner flags. 

Layout items on the cards, moving and arranging until you are satisfied with the design.

FaveCrafts Best Blogger Craft Event - MD hobby & craft

I was honored to be invited to the CHA Blogger Networking Party

hosted by favecrafts and Prime Publishing

In my swag from the CHA Blogger Networking Party I received MD craft & Hobby Chicken Wire and MD Metal Working Gloves! 

 

 

Wearing my MD Metal Working Gloves and wire cutters I cut a bout 20 inches off the roll of MD craft & Hobby Chicken Wire. On the roll it is folded in half, I didn't unfold it until it was cut. The square of MD craft & Hobby Chicken Wire was about twice the size of my finished nest, 9 inches round.

 

Still wearing my MD Metal Working Gloves I rolled the edges of the MD craft & Hobby Chicken Wire to form the nest.

 

Once I was happy with the nest I started adding fibers: ribbons, twine, yarn, gold string beads, rickrack and any other scrap fiber.

Birds take advantage of what is available... any scrap of fiber was game for this project!  The brighter the better!!!

Fill with eggs!! 

What a great Easter dinner centerpiece.

A CHA Highlight: The Blogger Event

AN AWESOME NIGHT DURING CHA!!!

 

 

Life is settling down since returning from CHA!
