Frida the Artist

Lost Coast Designs has three Frida stamps.  I only have one of them, but they all are equally beautiful!

Only recently have I read about Frida Kahlo one of Mexico's most famous artists.  Just in her teens she suffered injuries from a bus accident that would cause health issues her whole life.  She was famous for her self portraits showing the pain she suffered. Her marriage to Diego was turbulent at times. Her art was an expression of herself and life.  A beautiful and compassionate woman, she died in 1947 at the young age of 47.  There is so much to learn about the life of Frida, I plan to pick up her biography and read more about Frida the artist soon.

Today I am sharing a card made with the Lost Coast Designs Frida 1 stamp!

Supplies
Craft Mat
Black ink
Watercolor Paper

On craft mat rub several colors of Gelatos and add water to each color.

Do not wet watercolor paper, on the watercolor paper with paint brush swipe each color of Gelatos as pictured.

Set aside to dry.

Stamp the Lost Coast Designs - Frida1 stamp with black ink on white cardstock, then heat emboss with embossing powder. Fussy cut the image of Frida.

When the card is dry stamp the Lost Coast Designs

Frida1 stamp with black ink.  Adhere bits of  Guilding - Gold Leaf with Glue.

Place 3D Foam Adhesive on the back of the fussy cut Frida.

Attach flowers folded in half behind Frida's head and embellish with rhinestones!

This has been a great month for me, I loved creating with each and every stamp I worked with from Lost Coast Designs!

THANK YOU LOST COAST DESIGNS

Hope you all were inspired by all the projects

Gelatos and Stamping!

I love using Gelatos  as a background for stamping. I am so glad Altered Pages had the opportunity to partner with Lost Coast Design, I have had a great time stamping this month!  Today I am sharing a third technique using Gelatos the other two were direct to paper.  This time I am taking the paper to the Gelatos.

Today I am using the unmounted Grunge Tree from  Lost Coast Designs stamps. It is a background stamp, measuring 4 x 5 1/4.

and the Silhouette of Bird on Bike stamp, which is 3 inches tall.

SuppliesLost Coast Designs Stamps -Grunge Tree and Bird on Bike
Craft Mat
Black ink
Embossing Powder
Cardstock
Water -spray bottle

Using random colors rub Gelatos on the craft mat.

Mist the Gelatos with water.  You may need to use the waterbrush to full color coverage on the craft mat. Don't mix the colors too much or they will muddy!

Once you are happy with the colors on the craft mat the lay the paper on it.

Gently lift paper from craft mat, if need cover white areas by patting the paper face down on color still on the craft mat.  Do this until you have your desired results, being careful not to muddy the colors. Let dry or use heat gun to dry.

When the paper is dry you are ready to stamp.  Mount the Grunge Tree from  Lost Coast Designs stamp on an Acrylic Block with Double Sided Tape.  Gently ink the stamp on the raised areas with a dark gray ink!

Let the ink and the Gelatos totally dry before stamping the Bird on the Bike.

With black ink stamp the Bird on Bike.  Then heat emboss with embossing powder. Trim the sides and punt on card stock.  On metal foil dry emboss the word "JOURNEY" with a stamp.

I really love how the background turned out on this card. I wanted a stormy sunset.... I think I got it. What do you think?
