A Very Merry Holiday Steampunk Blog Hop! and Giveaway!

Welcome to Leslierahye's
A Very Merry Holiday Steampunk Blog Hop!

Leslierahye has gathered together a group of awesome artists who love steampunk. I hope you are as excited as I am to see what everyone has created!!! This hop is a little different than most, below you will find links to everyone on the hop, you can start at the beginning and hop through in order or jump around. Be sure and check out all the stops as some have blog candy!! Make sure you find out about my BLOG CANDY!!!!!
Today I was inspired by Christmas and altering ornaments to give the tree a steampunk feel. Here are a couple of ideas on altering items you can pick up at the dollar store or on sale.  These were fun and easy!

For the first altered ornament, using long nose pliers remove all the bells, in their place hang locking washers from the hardware store. This was a pretty easy alteration. Adhere a washer to the star on top of the tree with Using Helmars Quick Dry Glue!
Make your own Steampunk garland!!!  Take a light weight chain, with jump attach locking washers!!!

There isn't a before picture of this ornament.  It had bells in each hoop.  The bells were remove and the locking washers were put in their place.

These are my favorite ornaments, altered snowflakes. Above is the before picture!
Using Helmars Quick Dry Glue adhere locking washers to the snowflakes! I just love how they turned out.
Washers were glued to both sides, they look the same when they spin and turn on the tree!
I don't have my tree up yet or I would have decorated it for you.

Your turn, you may have some ornaments in your Christmas decorations that are just dying to be transformed to Steampunk.  If you do please come back and leave me a link so I can see them!

NOW for my give-away!  The winner will receive an assortment of my STEAMPUNK ornaments displayed here. I will randomly pick a winner from the comments so PLEASE leave one.  Hopefully I will be able to get the ornaments to you in time to hang on your tree before Christmas! You have until Monday December 10 at 5:00PM PST to leave comments.  At that time they will be closed and a winner will be announce shortly after.  Good Luck!

VLVS! All Hallows Eve Blog Hop - Creepy Candles

DAY 6 and still more party ideas for my VLVS! Hallow's Eve Blog Hop posts!  Yes, I have another  party idea.  Have you gotten any inspiration from our hop?  I would love to know.... Please leave a comment and let me me know if you have.

My next idea is candles, not just any ordinary candles, recycled jars Viva Las Vegastamps! Style!

Supplies:
Vellum
Heat Gun
Jars
Twine
Battery Operated Tea Lights
Recycled Jars
Collect a few small - medium size jars.  Cut Vellum in 2 x 11 inch stripes to use as wraps around your jars.  Stamp images and heat emboss with VLVS! Ultra High Gloss embossing Powder if you like you may color images.  I add a bit of color to the Full Moon with my Tim Holtz Distress Markers.  Using VLVS! Miracle Tape adhere the vellum to the jar.  Wrap twine around the top of the jars.  Now you have VLVS! Creepy Candles.

If you missed my first 4 days of hop party ideas here are links:

If you started on the VLVS! Blog today you know you to win a prize you have to collect all the letters from all the blogs in the hop for "SECRET WORD" I have an "O" for you.... when you get all the letters and know the word email it to DeeDee... more info on the blog HERE!

A good number of the stamps I have used these past few days come from two plates.  I have to admit I buy most of my stamps by the plate and unmounted.  Why unmounted when you have as many stamps as I do space becomes and issue!  PLUS you get more value for your dollar!!!

VLVS! All Hallow's Eve Party Blog Hop~CUPCAKE Toppers

Welcome to DAY 4 of the Viva Las Vegastamps! All Hallow's Eve Blog Hop!  Hope you are enjoying the fun as much as I am.

This week I am sharing projects made with paper and VLVS! stamps that you could make for your own Halloween Party.  Be sure to check the prior days (listed at the bottom of this post) if you missed them.
Now for our next Halloween Party idea!!!
CUP CAKE TOPPERS!!!!

These days cupcakes are all the rage.  Even wedding parties are opting for cupcakes instead of the traditional wedding cake.  So for our party I thought we should have cupcakes instead of cake! All you have to do is stop by your local bakery, pick up a few cupcakes and decorate!
I used one 12x12 sheet of paper to make the 5 rosettes for the toppers. I scored the sheet every 1/2 inch.  Folding, creasing and inking... the secret is out... I used my trusty glue gun to make the rosettes.  I am not going to go into details, as there are thousands of tutorials out there on how to make a rosette.  For the stake I cut bamboo skewers to the desired length and glued them to the rosettes.

Once I had the rosettes made I stamped my Viva Las Vegastamps! images and heat embossed them with Ultra High Gloss Embossing Powder.
The Ghost and Skull and Cross Bones were stamped on Kromekote Cardstock. The Faded Raven or Crow, Witch Costume and R.I.P. and Jack o'Lantern were stamped on plain bright green cardstock. All were fussy cut and adhered to the rosettes with VLVS! Miracle Tape.

I was just thinking how a display of 1,000 of these would look on "CUP CAKE WARS!" Hope you enjoyed todays project!

If you missed the first 3 days of the hop here are links:

The challenge today is to share a picture of your Viva Las Vegastamps! stash on the VLVS! Facebook Wall... HERE!

I didn't have time to go pull out all of my Viva Las Vegastamps!   Here are just a few of my Halloween stamps I have been using this week!

VLVS! All Hallow's Eve Party Blog Hop~Candy Wrappers

Welcome to Day Three of the Viva Las Vegastamps! All Hallow's Eve Party Blog Hop.

As promised I am sharing ideas for your Halloween Party... all the ideas could be used for young and old alike! Today wrappers for those candy bars that need a little sprucing up Viva Las Vegastamps! style!!!! All stamps are from Viva Las Vegastamps! and stamped with VersaFine Black Ink.

Here are 4 wrapped samples, 1.45oz Hershey's Chocolate bars.
Paper size depends on the the size of your candybar, measure by wrapping your paper around the bar.  Cut to length with a little over lap.  I have layered my wrap. The green card-stock a bit wider than the orange card-stock (with the pattern).

Then with a punch add a decorative edge to the green card-stock and ink the opposite edge. Add the crepe paper: Lay VLVS! Miracle Tape on the edge of the green card-stock remove the second piece of protective paper and pleat the the crepe paper on it. It doesn't need to be perfect. It took a little practice, after a couple of times it goes quickly.
Crease the orange pattern paper a bit to give a general idea of the center front to position stamping.  Once stamping is completed wrap the bar and adhere with VLVS! Miracle Tape.
R.I.P.

Witch Costume
Stamps: before adding the crepe paper to the top of the green card-stock stamp the Spiked Fence, Witch Costume and Trick or Treat.
Cemetery
Stamps: Cemetery, Full Moon and Raven.

Poison
Stamps: Pasteurs Death Potion, Poison (stamped on green card-stock adhere with VLVS! Miracle Tape!) and Skull and Cross Bones.

This is a great project to get the help of the young goblins the house!

Today visit the Viva Las Vegastamps! website (stampo.com) and then post on the Viva Las Vegastamps! Blog Day Three something you learned there!

The WINNER will be posted on Monday the 30th on the Sakura Blog.

HONORING MOM
Breast Cancer Touched my Life when Mom was diagnosed in December 2007.  We lost Mom this past December, she fought four courageous years!  Family was the most important thing to her in life.  She was the one who inspired the creativity in her children.  I have wanted to do something to honor her.  So here it is "A Beautiful Pink BRA" in all its glory! I know if she were here today she would be pacing asking, "When can I try it on... Can I wear it to the lake!"
Painted with Sakura Crystal Lacquer mixed with Terri Sproul Mixers - Pink Shimmer the Bra is stiff enough to stand on its own! The butterflies painted with Sakura Crystal Lacquer mixed with Terri Sproul Mixers - Pink Shimmer and Tanzanite blue.
One night I started pulling things from my stash and playing with what I found.  As you can see from the picture above and the one below the project evolved as I worked on it.  I used wire to attach all the metal pieces.  A small awl was handy to make holes in the lacquered bra.
Each item on the bra represents something in mom’s life.
4 - four years and her four children
Butterflies are her grandchildren
Locking washers - spouses and other family members
Blue gem on the 4 for her great grandson
Pink Gem on the 4 for her great granddaughter she never got to know
Wire on the 4 - her ability to keep everything going, everything together
Gold trim and sequins - she loved a party, crazy hats and outlandish outfits!
Flower her love of gardening
Beads on one breast that had cancer.
Wings that she earned
Charms represent some of the things she loved in life
Camera - photography and scrap-booking
Christmas Tree - her favorite holiday and big family dinners
Airplane - the trips to Europe she enjoyed with her sister
Bird house - for the 20-30 bird feeders she had called “Beaksburg”
Clock - how precious time is.
Heart - her unconditional love
Silver Feather - from a pair of earrings she wore
Scissors -the clothes she made when we were small, prom and wedding dresses

This may not be finished as I look at it I know there are things in Mom's life that I missed.  So don't be surprised if you see this again in the future with a few additions... LIKE SOME WINGS!

Comments Welcome!

Don’t forget to visit all the blogs in the hop and then let us know on the Sakura Blog your favorite project!
