HERE IS MY ENGINEERED PROJECT

HOT AIR BALLOON

I had seen a hot air ballon on a blog a couple of years back, was totally  inspired and always wanted to make one.  I am not sure who I am using as my inspiration... if you see this please let me know.  (Update 11/16/2014 Miranda Edney is my inspiration, the inspiration post HERE!)

I have been working on my project for days! I am really happy how it turned out!  Hope you enjoy it.

Cut 20 balloon shapes from The Robin's Nest Swirl Glitter sheets. Depending on the size of balloon you are making will depend on the number of pieces you can cut from a sheet.  My pattern is 8 1/4 x 5 1/2 (at the widest point of the balloon). Distress edges with an emery board and use brown ink on edges. Spritz the back of each ballon with iRESITable spray.

Glue four of the balloons to heavy chipboard cut with the same pattern as the 20.  Cut one in chipboard balloon in half and adhere to the first to create quarters.  Punch holes where you would like to attach chain to hold the basket.

Fold the remaining 16 balloons in half and divide in to stacks of  four.  Then nest them inside of each other, gluing at the center.  When you are finished you will have four sections.  Adhere these to the four sections of the chipboard balloon.  Now the balloon is taking place.  Once the glue dries you can start adjusting the panels of the balloon.  Add chain to hold the basket.

While the balloon dries make the flags and pennants for the banner from assorted Daisy Sheets (Back Stripes), embellish with Dew Drops and Diamond Dew Drops.  Add the lace, banner, ribbon and top arrangement to the balloon.

To make the  Basket cut a 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 square from card stock , score at one inch in on all sides.  Fold up and create a box.  Attach with vintage pins to the basket and then the main balloon.  Then decorate with flags, flowers and feathers!

Supplies:
Robins Nest:
10 Assorted Swirl Glitter Sheets
3 Assorted Daisy Sheets (Back Stripes)
Assorted Dew Drops and Diamond Dew Drops
Chain & Jump Rings
Vintage pins
Feathers  & Flowers
Lace & Ribbon

You can see all the projects entered in the contest HERE and vote... You can vote for your favorite starting November 15 through the 30th!!!

Vintage Image Craft Creative Challenge! I won Second!!!

What a wonderful Sunday afternoon.  I just found out I won second place in the Vintage Image Craft February Challenge.  THANK YOU for the HONOR.  Be sure to visit their site to see all the entries in the challenge! HERE!

From VIC site:
Victorian Wall Ornament by Lyneen Jesse (a 2011 Creative Challenge winner) created a Victorian shadow box, containing a nostalgic scene of pastoral romance. We were especially impressed that she hand-made all of the embellishments, from the perky little bird to the spray of roses. It all came together with gentle choices of pastel colors, nested in a vintage paper-wrapped cookie cutter! Lyneen will receive a VIC e-book from our Cards With a Past series.

I love all the images Scott & Martin have in their collection... but I collect vintage ephemera myself so I am partial to anything vintage, Victorian or old!

Christmas Girl with Cats Card ~ Second Place!

If you are looking for the 12 tags of Christmas Blog Hop scroll down one post!

I received an email that my card was the second place winner!!!!  I am so excited.  As second prize wins an e-book with collection of Vintage Image Craft images!

"Congratulations! Your artwork, Christmas Girl with Cats Card, is the SECOND PRIZE winner in the VIC “Christmas Cats” Creative Challenge for November 2011! Announced at Vintage Craft Image HERE!"

"Christmas Girl with Cats Card by Lyneen Jesse echoes the composition of advertising illustrations of the early 20th century. In particular, she captured the dreamy coloration so popular at the time. The paper tole technique of layering provided texture and energy. We particularly noticed how Lyneen used cats from multiple images, being artful with the perspective. In this simple paper craft, she chose complimentary elements, colors, and text and brought them together in a way that really sparkle like a vintage treasure. Lyneen will receive a VIC e-book from our Cards With a Past series."
