Dia de los Muertos - Blank Page Muse Blog Hop

In brief Día de los Muertos or comonly known at The Day of the Dead, is a Mexican holiday where the souls of deceased relatives of family and friends are welcomed home for a brief time that includes food, drink and celebration, even parades. The celebration traditionally occurs November 1-2 but can be longer.  

For the blog hop today I am sharing several cards made with stamps from both Blank Page Muse and I Brake for Stamps.

Images were stamped with Stazon on ink on watercolor paper.

Black fine tip Sharpie

Enamel dots - assorted colors

Black card bases

Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks Squeezed Lemonade, Wilted Violet, Twisted Citron, Peacock Feathers, Festive Berries and Spiced Marmalade

Let the watercolors dry then fussy cut all images.  Create background papers by wiping bright Oxide Inks on watercolor paper.  The lighter colors first. 

With acrylic pen add dots around the edge of the edges of the skull above and Frida below. 

On the two skulls below additional with acrylic pens, draw circles around them with a fine tip black pen.

I Brake for Stamps - Witchy Halloween Card

Happy Halloween! This is a card I shared on the I Brake for Stamps blog in August.  I thought it was worth sharing again!  This is a fun technique that I learned many years ago and had forgotten. Creating my own layering stencil.

All & Create Rectangle #32
Circle die ½ inch

Tim Holtz Oxide Ink Hickory Smoke, Squeezed Lemonade, and Carved Pumpkin
Staz On Jet Black
Stamping Platform
Tree Punch
Acetate
Water squirt bottle

Paper Towel

 

For this project I wanted to create the background with inks, with an ominous full moon. To do that I needed a mask for the moon and then a mask to cover the night sky surrounding the moon. Using a 2 1/2-inch circle I die a circle in the center of the acetate.

Using the All & Create Rectangle #32 cut the black frame and the center white mat.

On the stamping platform place the white mat, with the circle die cut from the acetate.

 

Apply Tim Holtz Oxide Ink Hickory Smoke on the map as pictured. Spritz whit water and dab with a paper towel to remove excess water. 

Now place the piece of the stencil with the circle cut out of the center of the acetate. 

Then ink the moon using mask stencil and Tim Holtz Oxide Ink Squeezed Lemonade, and Carved Pumpkin.  Ink the whole moon with Squeezed Lemonade, then lightly ink the edges with Carved Pumpkin.

With StazOn ink stamp the image of the witch. That big moon just sets the silhouette of flying Witch

Adhere the white mat to the black mat adhere to card base with dimensional foam. 

Punch out a tree for black card stock. The tree gives the image of the witch dimension. 

                                      

Adhere white and black grudge mat to the orange card base. Add a little bling with black gems.

I Brake for Stamps - Running Horses & Cactus Sunset Silhouette

 I fell in love with this image when I saw it on the I Brake for Stamps website.  It was an I must have stamp.  I just love the majestic look of the horses running free.

I Brake For Stamps - Witchy Halloween Card

August is the month to start thinking of Halloween card making!!!  Today I have a fun technique that I learned many years ago and seemed to have forgotten. Creating my own layering stencil. Tonight, as I type this a big barn owl is hooting. It reminds me of Fall and all the hauntings of Halloween.

Today I am sharing one of the images I won from I Brake for Stamps during this fantastic 31 days of Halloween Blog Hop. The image is a Rick St. Dennis digi (artist Randi Dandi)  called "Be Our Ghost."

This is only my second digi that I have colored... like I said yesterday I am completely out of my comfort zone.

I Brake for Stamps - Monochromatic Swap

This week I participated in a one card Monochromatic Swap. I received a card done in brown tones.

Another Card...

Was playing with images the other night from I Brake For Stamps.  I had stamped the Ballerina and when I was working on the background challenge and the Arch Background while working on the Shabby Chic challenge.  I had left over papers on the table so I decided to put these pieces all together! 

CARD: Stamp Arch on transparency, heat emboss with black powder and cut out.  Stamp Ballerina on pink paper, adhere to card stock, highlight with COPICS. Adhere pattern paper to to black panel.  Trim an edge of a doily, carefully adhere to the pattern paper. Add the Arch, with foam tape attach the Ballerina. Use Stickles on the Ballerina's dress, set aside to dry.

I Brake for Stamps Challenge!!! Backgrounds

This week the challenge at I Brake for  Stamps was to use backgrounds... I don't have any IBFS background stamps so I decided on using pattern paper from Colorbok as the background.

On this card I used the IBFS Victorian Woman.  She is stamped on tissue paper... my favorite stamping paper at this time.  Spray tissue with fixative before coloring. Color the stamped image with COPICs. Adhered the tissue image the the background paper.  Layered the pattern paper on a piece of red card stock.  Tied a bow around the panel and attached the panel to the card base.
